Men charged with stealing valuable aluminium bike racks

Two men charged with stealing and handling stolen aluminium bike racks, valued more than €2,000, were remanded on continuing bail when they appeared before Galway District Court this week.

Martin Delaney (27 ) and Ned Delaney (19 ) with an address at 37 and 38 Fana Glas, Ballybane, appeared in court on Monday charged with stealing aluminium bike racks, valued €2,240, and handling stolen property, aluminium bike racks, knowing that the property was stolen, contrary to Section 4 and Section 17 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud ) Act 2001, at Galway Docks, on September 26, 2011.

The court heard how the both men were arrested on January 14 last and charged with the offences. After charge and caution Ned Delaney replied: “I got the bit of stuff myself, I thought it was old scrap.”
