Exploring the unintended monuments

NINETY NINE Percent for Art, an exhibition featuring new work by Carol Anne Connolly and Jim Ricks, opens in The Dock Shed at the Galway Docks next week.

In this show Connolly and Ricks will present new work in sculpture, video, painting, and photography.

The artists’ interest lies in what they describe as ‘unintended monuments’ and their work seeks to rethink the memorial in a time of economic and political upheaval using national and global examples and how they relate to each other.

The official opening takes place on Thursday February 9 at 7pm. The guest speaker will be NUI Galway’s Dr Patrick Collins. The public will be able to view the exhibition from Friday February 10 to Sunday 19.
