A touch of Debussy in the night

Debussy & beyond…, takes place in the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway on Tuesday February 7 at 8pm, and feature British pianist Rolf Hind.

Mr Hind, who the Belgian newspaper De Standaard said “exceeds the boundaries of what is possible on the piano”, will perform Debussy’s Six Préludes, Book II, and his L’Isle Joyeuse.

The programme will also include Karen Tanaka’s ‘Cristalline’, George Benjamin’s ‘Shadowlines’, and ‘Le Courlis Cendre’ and ‘Île de Feu II’ by Messiaen.

The second event takes place on Tuesday March 13 in the Hotel Meyrick with a special programme featuring Debussy’s string quartet, sonata for violin and piano, and cello sonata, performed by Lenneke Ruiten (soprano ), Thom Janssen (piano ), and the ConTempo Quartet.
