Galway based author, interviewer, and Hotpress journalist Olaf Tyaransen is to write the first officially sanctioned biography of the controversial singer-songwriter Sinéad O’Connor.

Ms O’Connor said the book will “set the record straight” about her life, but she is adamant that it will not make her out to be “great and perfect”, but instead will be “warts’n’all”.

Mr Tyaransen said he is “honoured” that the singer has asked him to write her life story.

“Sinéad O’Connor is undoubtedly one of the most important, talented, controversial and trail-blazing artists Ireland has ever produced,” he said. “She’ll still be remembered in 200 years time, not just here but all over the world. And she has a truly extraordinary tale to tell. It’s going to be an interesting year.”
