PHIL LYNOTT, singer, songwriter, and leader of Thin Lizzy, is both an Irish and global rock icon, and Galway will celebrate his music at a special concert tomorrow.
The annual Galway A Vibe for Phil Lynott, to mark the 26th anniversary of his passing, takes place in Monroe’s Live from 10pm. Performing on the night will be Thin Lizzy tribute band Remembering Lizzy, performing the best known and loved of Lynott’s songs.
Thin Lizzy’s influence on rock music has been enormous, with heavy rock and metal bands such as Guns’n’Roses, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and Metallica all citing the Irish band as an inspiration. More recently Lizzy’s influence has become increasingly felt in indie music, most especially with Belle and Sebastian and Fang Island.
Tickets are €15 and are available on the door or through [email protected] and 091 - 583397.
