Get your skates on and get to Ice Factor at the Carlton

Ice Factor has officially opened at the Carlton Hotel on the Dublin Road, Galway City.

The ice rink was officially opened by Mayor Of Galway Hildegarde Naughton and followed by an ice skating performance given by figure skaters Perry and Brownell O’Connor and their children Kristie, Courtney, and Jordie.

Brownell O’Connor recently won two ISU medals at the Adult International Figure Skating Competition in Germany in June. Along with daughter Courtney, she performed an ice skating exhibition piece each, which lasted five minutes. The family then gave assistance on the ice to the guests in attendance wanting to try their skills on the ice as well as skate demonstrating the various skills involved in figure skating. Apres Match star Barry Murphy was MC for the event which held in conjunction with Galway Chamber as a Business After Hours Event.

The Ice Factor’s covered rink will occupy 600 square metres at the front of the hotel. For those who do not want to skate and just wish to relax and watch the fun, the Christmas Café, which is open daily, offers a selection of festive foods such as Christmas cookies, gingerbread men and mince pies, pizzas, and a large choice of winter warmers such as mulled wine, speciality tea and coffee, and hot chocolate!
