McCambridge’s food fair tonight

As this is going to be McCambridge’s biggest ever fair, I thought it might be worthwhile to suggest some producers for you to seek out. The problem when visiting a large fair can be, where do you start?

There will be many names you know but some you may not, and they are also ones that I reckon are best in class.

Mellas butter fudge, made in Clonakilty by a woman who has been perfecting the art since she was a schoolgirl, the very best I have ever tasted.

Hartys savoury jellies include flavours such as jalapeno, cranberry, and the one I like, chargrilled pepper. It is perfect for putting on cold meats, wraps, etc.

Sam’s Cookies from Wicklow makes a whole range of goodies, however I really rate his cakes that are in a packaging that resembles a handbag. They look super and would make a great present if visiting and only cost €4.50 each. I love the sticky ginger cake, topped off with crystalised ginger, 10/10 for this.

I will be mentioning smoked duck breast in an article before Christmas and McCambridge’s will have one for tasting from Carraig Na Breac in Co Leitrim. It is the tastiest starter and very good for you, can be made with a salad in seconds, and is going to be my Christmas Day starter.

The Friendly Farmer will have a cooked goose for you to sample.

Jamie from Builin Blasta in Spiddal will be in attendance

Ard Bia will showcase its jams and sauces, and much more.

Finally also on tonight is the Thomas Woodberry’s Wine Fair at the Meyrick with at least 100 wines to taste, so you are spoiled for choice.
