Mexican guitarist to play Coole Park

THE MEXICAN guitarist Rosa María Robinson will play music by Dowland, Sor, Villa Lobos, Tedesco and Ponc, in Coole Park this Saturday at 8pm.

Rosa María has performed at major international guitar festivals in Mexico as a soloist and with her guitar trio Eufonía. Following graduation from the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico she studied in the famous Segovia class in the Academia Chigiana with Maestro Oscar Ghiglia.

A prize-winner at the XV International Guitar competition ANEMOS 2008 in Rome, she is currently specialising in 19th and 20th century and contemporary repertoire at the Instituto P Mascagni at Livorno in Italy.

On the night, Rosa María will be joined by leading Irish classical guitarist Redmond O’Toole to play the Overture to The Barber of Seville.

Events at Coole

Rosa María Robinson’s concert is one of a number of events taking place in Coole over the weekend. Tonight, Saltus: Galway Early Music Medieval Ensemble will perform a concert of tunes played on Renaissance bagpipe, fiddle, recorder and pipe, and percussion.

On Monday November 17, a lecture entitled researching primary sources - part 2, the third of the Family History Series, Tracing Your Ancestors: An Introduction by Bríd Higgins will take place.

On Thursday November 20, Electric Bridget will stage Waiting For Elvis, written by Eileen Gibbons and performed by Eileen Gibbons and Helen Gregg (Electric Bridget ).

Lisa Marie lives her life happily sitting on a park bench waiting for Elvis. Elizabeth is curious to penetrates the bubble that is Lisa Marie’s life. As she does so, nothing will ever be the same again.
