New Jaguar XF boasts a 2.2L turbo diesel engine

Jaguar has just launched its newly updated XF - a model that it speaks of as a saloon with the soul of a Jaguar sports car.

The existing XF has won accolades and enthusiastic fans across the globe for its dynamic abilities and dramatic looks. Now the new model gets exterior revisions with a new larger grille, bonnet, and front wings incorporating new triangular side vents that give the car a more muscular, purposeful appearance. It also gets new bumpers.

Advances in lighting technology have also allowed the new 2012 XF model range to adopt the bold Jaguar design language introduced on the flagship XJ saloon. The new XF features sleeker HID bi-xenon headlamps, and LED daytime running lights with a distinctive ‘J-Blade’ signature. It also has revised tail lamps with LED stop, tail, and directional indicators.

Upgraded interiors with new seat styles, instrument panel and optional 1200W Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system, reinforce the exquisitely crafted and luxurious finish of the XF.

But it is the new XF 2.2 i4 diesel that will get much of the attention. Jaguar says it is the most fuel efficient vehicle in the Jaguar line-up, achieving 52.3mpg (5.4l/100 km ) on the combined fuel consumption cycle.

Producing 190bhp and 450Nm of torque, the new turbo diesel engine offers the performance and refinement (once warmed-up ) expected of a Jaguar sports saloon.

Major technical advances, including the introduction of a new ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and intelligent stop/start system, reduce CO2 emissions to 149g/km.

This superb new transmission is fitted to all diesel derivatives within the XF range and reduces the 3.0 V6 turbo diesel engine CO2 emissions by 10g to 169g/km while also lowering fuel consumption. The reduced emissions will mean annual road tax for the 2.2 i4 model will be €302, with the 3.0 V6 €447.

So the current model XF, which has won more than 80 international awards for both performance and styling, now gets more with the restyling to the exterior and upgraded interior, as well as the introduction of tax and environment friendly new smaller diesel power.

The new XF 2.2 i4 diesel starts from €44,995 excluding dealer delivery and related charges. It is competitively priced with a very good standard specification.
