Misterman to be staged in New York

Misterman, the hit play of this years Galway Arts Festival and one of the finest pieces of theatre ever staged in the city, will receive its American premiere in New York later this year.

Starring Cillian Murphy (Inception, Breakfast on Pluto, The Wind that Shakes the Barley ) and written and directed by Enda Walsh (Penelope, The Walworth Farce, Hunger ), the play will run at St Ann’s Warehouse, 38 Water Street, Brooklyn, New York from November 30 to December 21 and is supported by Culture Ireland as part of Imagine Ireland, a year of Irish arts in America.

“We are really delighted for all the Misterman team to present the show in New York,” said Galway Arts Festival artistic director Paul Fahy. “It was wonderful working with Cillian, Enda and our fantastic creative team on the production, and both Anne Clarke of Landmark Productions, and the festival were really thrilled to have received the invitation to perform in New York from St Ann’s Warehouse artistic director Susan Feldman.

“We are very honoured to be part of Imagine Ireland and grateful to Culture Ireland for supporting the production and we look forward to opening the production in New York in December.”

The production for Misterman will be designed by Jamie Vartan, with lighting by Adam Silverman, and sound design by Gregory Clarke (Tony Award winner for Equus ). The specially-commissioned score will be by the Crash Ensemble’s Donnacha Dennehy.
