File for DPP after man injured in Eyre Square row

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses following an incident in Eyre Square at the weekend which left a young man with serious head injuries.

The man was injured when he fell from the top of the ESB substation in the Square during an altercation at around 3.15am on Saturday. He was brought to University College Hospital with serious head injuries.

Two men, both in their early twenties, were arrested in Salthill on Sunday afternoon in relation to the incident. They were released without charge on Sunday night and Gardaí are preparing a file on the incident for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

It is understood the young man who was injured is expected to make a full recovery.
