The annual Derek Crowe Memorial Six-a-sides, held in memory of the former Mervue United/Galway United player, takes place this Saturday and Sunday at McHugh Avenue, Mervue.
In celebrating its 16th year, this popular annual competition has once again attracted a huge entry with more than 50 teams taking part in 120 games.
The first of the group matches kick off on Saturday at 10.30am with 32 teams progressing to the knock-out stage on Sunday after Saturday’s league stages. The final is timed for 3.30pm on Sunday.
The tournament has become the biggest crowd pulling event now held in Mervue, not just over the summer months, but the whole year.
Last year’s winners, Pass the Ball Spudie, will be looking to defend the title they won in a thrilling final, but they will face the usual stiff opposition this year.
