Young Fine Gael summer school comes to Galway

Young Fine Gael (YFG ) will hold one of its major events of the year in The Hotel Meyrick, Galway, this weekend, from Friday July 8 to Sunday, July 10.

Newly elected Mayor of Galway city, Cllr Hildegarde Naughten, will open the summer school. She will be joined by Fine Gael TDs Sean Kyne and Brian Walsh, and Senator Fidelma Healy Eames. The summer school brings together 200 delegates from YFG branches throughout the country for a weekend of political and social events.

YFG will debate motions on issues of the day as well as outlining areas where they feel Fine Gael must deliver in government. High on the agenda will be opportunities for young workers and graduates, mental health, and reform of the education system. They will also discuss a reduction in the age that a person can be elected president of Ireland from the current 35 years.

Delegates will watch a live stream of the Fine Gael presidential election convention being held in Dublin on Saturday July 9.
