Devon must strike form at home

Salthill Devon's form at Drom throughout the campaign has been a huge source of worry so Paul McGee will be hoping his young side can claim some sort of result when Finn Harps visit the west on Saturday evening.

Devon, who have only taken one point from a possible 21 on home turf, badly need a result against a Harps outfit that also has been quite disappointing thus far, especially away from Ballybofey where they have lost all seven league encounters.

Both teams will be anxious to improve these brutal records - Harps are just three points ahead of bottom-placed Salthill Devon - so there will be plenty to play for on Sautrday.

McGee is adding to his squad with Emmet Shaw, who had a few substitute appearances in the top flight with Galway United last year, but Salthill need to get back to basics defensively, having conceded nine in the last two heavy losses to Monaghan United and Waterford United.

Salthill have blooded several youngsters again during the campaign so Ray Winters, Colm Horgan, Ronan Conlon, Timmy Molloy, and Shaw will benefit from the experience.

Mervue United are not in action this weekend, but they can reflect on another splendid display with a comfortable win over Wexford Youths at Fahy's Field.

Noel Varley clipped the opener before the impressive Tom King bagged a brace for Johnny Glynn's improving team which is in a comfortable mid-table position in the league table.

Mervue's squad is loaded with youth and the form of Ger Hanley, James Casserly, Martin Conneely, John Mountney, Varley, King, and Jason Molloy augurs well.
