Conneely slams council for failing to complete houses for special needs families

City councillor Padraig Conneely has slammed the housing department of Galway City Council for their failure to complete the building of four houses in the city.

“Three houses at Greenview Heights on the westside of the city are left unfinished for the past 18 months and a single house in Coole Park, Bohermore, is also left unfinished. These four houses have already been allocated to families with special needs for the past four years. Works ceased on the four houses over 18 months ago when problems arose with the contractor and Galway City Council has failed over that period of time to appoint a new contractor to complete the works.

Cllr Conneely said: “Galway City Council housing department has sat on their hands for the past 18 months and their failure to engage a new contractor is an indictment of Galway City Council’s housing programme in the city, and their failure to complete the four houses for deserving families is to be strongly condemned.”
