Cellar Bar reopens on Eglinton Street with twenty-five-job boost

Popular Galway hostelry the Cellar Bar has reopened for business ending a four month hiatus. After closing its doors on December 31 last, the venue resumed trading on Easter Saturday and held its official opening last Friday night.

As well as being a boost to Galway’s dining and nightlife scenes, the Cellar’s revival is also good news for the local economy which has seen the creation of 25 new jobs.

Diners will be pleased to note that the Cellar Bar has resumed its restaurant menu. Food is served from 10am to 9pm, with its famous all day breakfast proving a particular favourite. Diners can also avail of a variety of breakfast, lunch, and evening meals.

The weekends see a selection of live music in the upstairs bar, while popular nightspot The Venue is set to reopen downstairs on Saturday June 4. The Venue is considered one of Galway’s premier music scenes and local aficionados are eagerly anticipating its revival.

The Cellar also boasts two large high definition screens showing all the latest live sports. With a huge variety of events down for decision over the next month, it is an ideal venue to watch games.

The Cellar Bar is being run by Mike Gilmore and Michael Proulx, who also run the Malthouse Bar and Restaurant in Mountbellew.
