The students of the Performing Arts School Galway (PASG ) take to the stage in the Radisson Blu Hotel tomorrow night to celebrate their 20th birthday. The show is entitled Showcase and promises to be a foot tapping, all singing, all dancing extravaganza.
Featuring performances from tiny tots to young adults, Showcase will include excerpts from well loved musicals such as Annie, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, Grease, Singing in the Rain, and Footloose.
Directed and choreographed by the school’s founder Paula McGurrell, the show starts at 7.30pm and admission is just €10. Tickets are available on the door and proceeds go to Cope Galway Waterside House.
“As the longest established school for the performing arts in Galway, we wanted to mark our 20th anniversary in a special way. The students themselves came up with the idea of donating the proceeds of our anniversary concert to Waterside House and we are delighted to be able to help this very worthy project,” said Ms McGurrell.
Founded in September 1991, the Performing Arts School Galway offers tuition in musical theatre, singing, dance, and drama. All teachers are professionally qualified and accredited and prepare the students for IDTA Musical Theatre Exams and LAMDA Exams. Additionally a professional panto and stage musical are presented annually.
Students attend from all over Galway city and county and neighbouring counties Mayo and Clare. Past students include Aoife Mulholland, TG4’s Aine Lally, Sarah Keating of Six, and Nora Jane Noone who starred in the Magdalene Laundries.
Later this year the senior students of the Performing Arts School Galway will travel to London to attend master classes with the cast of The 39 Steps, Billly Elliott and Wicked, which are currently playing in the West End.
The Performing Arts School Galway caters for students from the age of four upwards with separate classes for tots. For more information log onto www.performing artsschoolgalway.com
