Vehicles damaged in separate incidents

Gardaí have appealed for information following two incidents in which vehicles were damaged over the weekend.

In the early hours of Saturday a parked car was damaged in Monivea Park. Vandals threw a brick through the car’s windscreen and then attempted to set the vehicle alight. This incident happened between 2am and 2.30am, and anyone who noticed unusual activity in the area is asked to contact Galway Garda Station.

In a separate incident, a white minibus was damaged while parked at Town Park Centre on the Tuam Road over the weekend. It is not known when this damage was done, though the van was in situ from 4pm on Friday to 8.45am on Monday. The catalytic converter was removed from underneath the minibus.

Gardaí are aware that similar incidents have occurred around the county in recent weeks, and are advising motorists, particularly those who own minibuses and jeeps, to be vigilant and to report any such incidents to their local Garda station immediately.

Motorists are also being advised not to leave valuables in parked cars following a spate of break-ins to parked vehicles. If you must leave items in your car, lock them in the boot.
