GARDAI in Tuam are hunting the raider who attempted to ram a rural post office early yesterday (Wednesday ).
The man, driving a stolen black VW Passat rammed the car into the entrance of Barnaderg post office, just outside Tuam, at 7am.
The suspect, a man in his mid twenties, then managed to get into the Post Office for a short period of time.
Although he gained entry to the building after causing a large amount of damage it is believed to have made away emptyhanded.
The car, which is believed to have been stolen in Galway city earlier, sped off in the direction of Ballinasloe.
It was later found burnt out at Clonfad in Co Roscommon.
