WRITERS FROM Holland, the USA, and Ireland will all feature in the March Over The Edge March Writers’ Gathering at The Café in the Galway City Museum on Friday March 11 at 8pm.
The writers taking part are Nick Hayes, Alex Hijmans, Lorna Shaughnessy, Anna Snyder, John W Sexton, and Alan Jude Moore.
American Nick Hayes is a recipient of awards from the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Fulbright Program. He won an Emmy in 1991 for his work on the documentary Television and Democracy in Russia.
Dutchman Alex Hijmans is a fluent Irish speaker, a journalist, and author and ran the fondly remembered coffee-house, Café Bananaphoblacht. He will be reading from his debut novel Aiséirí.
Lorna Shaughnessy was born in Belfast and lives in Galway. She lectures in NUI Galway. She has published numerous collections of her own poetry as well as translations of Mexican poetry.
John W Sexton is the author of three poetry collections, while under the ironic pseudonym of Sex W Johnston he has recorded an album with legendary Stranglers frontman, Hugh Cornwell, entitled Sons of Shiva.
Alan Jude Moore is the author of three collections of poetry. His fiction has been twice short-listed for the Hennessy Literary Award for New Irish Writing. Translations of his work have been published in Italy, Russia, and Turkey. He lives in Dublin.
Anna Snyder is a poet and prose-writer.
