Galway hurlers in rampant scoring form

Galway 1-24 Offaly 1-10

Galway hurlers are topping the Allianz Hurling League table with two wins from their opening outings.

Although level with Kilkenny on four points, the impressive scoring tallies of 1-24 over both Wexford and Offaly ensures they are setting the pace this season.

Manager John McIntyre had expected Offaly to present a more determined challenge than Wexford, and had prepared his charges accordingly. They took control from the start and completely outclassed Offaly, scoring 10 points without reply midway through the second half.

Galway’s cause was helped when Offaly corner forward Cathal Parlon was sent off for a second bookable offence before half time, but the Tribesmen were already in front by 0 -9 to 0 - 5.

After Aongus Callanan goaled within seconds of the restart, Galway took a commanding 1-13 to 0 - 8 lead from which Offaly would never recover.
