The Skeff listed as an official party venue for Australia Day

‘Australia Day on January 26’ sees The Skeff annually transform into Galway’s only authentic Australian bar.

The Skeff's Australian management and staff welcome Australian citizens in Galway and offers a home away from home on their National Day. Australia Day also sees emigrating Irish reminisce about their past Australian adventures or get in the mood for future travels.

Every aspect of the traditional ‘Australia Day’ will be accounted for. Australian Manager, Andy Phillips explains ‘Everything shuts down at home. The country packs up work, uni or whatever they are doing and just celebrates being an Oz!’ Mr Philips has imported everything that makes an Aussie feel at home from local Stubbies of VB & Tooheys Extra Dry Beers, Tim Tams, Twisties aswell as the traditional sausage sizzle on the bar-b-que whilst listening to The Traditional Hottest 100 (World’s Biggest Phone-In Poll ) from 3pm.

The Skeff Bar is the only place that Australians will truly feel at home on Australian Bar staff around Galway have also started up a Facebook page encouraging Australians to unite and celebrate as a nation at Galway’s meeting place. With The Skeff listed and registered as an official party venue for the Triple J Hottest 100, the festivities start quite early in the day and will see the three floors of The Skeff packed to the rafters with citizens from the Southern Hemisphere.

The Skeff Bar will be open later than usual with many utilising complimentary admission passes to Karma Club. The Club who also carry a number of Australian staff, intend to carry on celebrating Galways newest phenomenon; ‘Australia Day!
