Establishing a youth café in Westside has received a major boost as the Galway City Council has sourced €40,000 for the development of cafés in RAPID areas of the city.
The funding will be rolled out by the Youth Officer of the VEC in conjunction with the RAPID committee of the council.
The news has been welcomed by Labour councillor Billy Cameron. “The provision of a youth café in Westside was one of the items I listed as a priority in my election manifesto in 2009,” he said. “I also tabled a motion to the Galway City Council early in 2009 to progress the issue. It is pleasing to see the results of pressure and lobbying bear fruit.”
