Linda Martyn school of Irish dancing branches into city

The Tuam-based Linda Martyn School of Irish Dancing opened a little over two years ago. It is a relatively new school but has achieved a lot in such a short space of time, mostly due to the dedication of Linda Martyn herself.

Ms Martyn qualified as an Irish dancing teacher in 2007. Registered with An Coimisiún, she first opened the doors of her new dancing school in the summer of that year, in Body & Soul studios in Tuam. It has gone from strength to strength. The school also runs classes also in Headford and Belclare. Last Saturday saw the opening of classes in Galway city in the Rowing Club in Woodquay.

The school is built on hard work and dedication. It is a full family programme asveryone gets involved. It has a great group of parents that share their talents, skills and time with the school so that the children can have the opportunities that are provided for them. Without their support these things could not be accomplished.

Ms Martyn is a perfectionist and continually strives for it in all aspects from performance to feiseanna. She focuses on bringing the best out of each student, and as she is a former world champion, she hopes that her students will follow in her footsteps, and with her dancers attaining top places at the recent Connacht Championships, and one pupil – Shauna Higgins, qualifying for the World Championships in Dublin, it is looking likely that they will.
