Go Movember crazy in Galway’s West End

Galway has gone Movember crazy – particularly Connacht Rugby and the city's West End, where local businesses have organised a host of fundraising events.

Movember is a charity event where men grow moustaches during November to raise funds for Action Prostate Cancer, an initiative of the Irish Cancer Society, and to raise awareness about men's health issues in general.

On Friday November 19 at 7pm, Connacht Rugby take on Scarlets in a Magners League match at the Sportsground. Before and after the match, there will be a charity collection where rugby fans can make donations to Movember.

The city's West End businesses (Dominick Street, Henry Street, Sea Road, etc, ), are also involved in Movember and fundraising events will be taking place there later in the month.

The Laughter Lounge in the Róisín Dubh will host a Movember Comedy fundraiser on Wednesday November 24 at 9pm, with a show featuring Canadian comic Pete Johansson, Marcel Lucont, and Andrew Stanley.

Saturday November 27 is Movember Tips Day when all bars and bar-staff in Galway’s West End will donate tips collected that night to Movember, so don't forget to tip generously.

Then to round off Movember, there will be the Movember Shave off fancy dress party, where all participants in the charity event will have their moustaches shaved off, in Massimo on Tuesday November 30 at 9pm.

There is still time to take part in Movember. All you have to do is go to ie.movember.com and register. Galwegians who would like to sponsor those taking part

should go to http://ie.movember.com/donate/find-member/ and type in the name of whoever they want to sponsor and make a donation from there.
