Galway to get new alcohol-free social space

Galway is follow the examples of Limerick, Cork and Dublin when the new Galway social space opens this weekend.

Galway Social Space is a community oriented, non profit,cultural, and creative space available to anyone in the city to come together in an alcohol free environment.

The “social space” concept is popular in many European countries and across other cities in Ireland.

Ken Baird of Galway Social Space says, “It's a very exciting time for Galway, we're really looking forward to getting more and more people involved in the project and to see the space being used to enhance the community .”

The space will open its doors on Saturday 16 at 2pm, with tea and buns provided, all are welcome.

The group are interested in hearing from anyone who would like to get involved; be it running workshops, renting rooms for rehearsal space or meetings, showing films or anything that comes to mind!

On Thursday there will be a celebratory fundraiser gig in the Warwick Hotel, from 8pm with local Reggae group Intinn and Drum and Bass provided by Flo. Tickets are €10 or €8 with a flyer.
