Yeats College leads Galway schools in UCD tables

Yeats College has recently been recognised as the highest ranking school outside of Dublin to provide students to UCD. The college has performed extremely well on a national level, coming in 10th in a recent study of the top feeder schools to UCD for 2010.

This year almost 15 per cent of Yeats College students chose to study a range of courses at UCD including veterinary, actuarial maths and radiography.

Yeats College has regularly been recognised as a top feeder school for many of the country’s main universities and currently provides significantly more students to NUI, Galway than any other school in the country.

Speaking about the recent study, Principal Terry Fahy commented that the colleges position on the leader boards is testament to the hard work and dedication of the teachers and students at Yeats College.

“The Leaving Certificate is becoming even more competitive, with a broader section of students seeking a narrower band of desirable careers and courses. Our students are trained to study in a motivated environment which empowers them to achieve their goals.”

“Every year our results reflect the commitment of our highly qualified teaching staff and our motivated and hardworking students. If students have their ambition set on courses with high points in UCD or other third level institutions their goals can be achieved at Yeats College” he said.

In 2010, almost one-third of Leaving Certificate students achieved 500 points, which is four times the national average. Subsequently an impressive 48 percent scored 450 points or over as opposed to the national average of 18 percent.

The ensuing CAO offers left many students with a place at their preferred college pursuing their desired course.

Twenty-one students of the Yeats College class of 2010 achieved their goal of medicine, with most taking a place at NUIG, UCD or Trinity College. Yeats College students also received offers across a wide range of interest areas from Arts and Architecture to Commerce, Engineering, Science, IT, Psychology and the Para-medial courses.

Yeats College is currently enrolling for their Christmas revision course which will take place from Monday January 3 to Friday January 7.
