Ó Brolcháin welcomes new measures for Galway Warmer Homes Scheme

New measures have been put in place to make it easier for Galway residents to access the Warmer Homes Scheme according to Galway senator Niall Ó Brolcháin.

Sen Ó Brolcháin recently met with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, following constituents contacting him, explaining that they were having difficulty accessing the Warmer Homes Scheme. “Galway city has fallen behind other parts of the country in terms of applying for the scheme,” he said.

However the new measures will see a local community organisation set up to provide the service and a special helpline for eligible applicants who would like to find out more or who have had difficulties accessing the scheme.

Eligible applicants must own their home since before 2002 and be in receipt of the fuel allowance. The scheme includes attic insulation, draught exclusion, installing lagging jackets on hot water tanks, providing CFL light bulbs, putting beads into cavity walls, and energy advice.

Applicants can register for the scheme by calling 1800 250 204 or email [email protected]
