Shinty comes to Connemara

The Scottish shinty team will play Cumann Mhícheál Breathnach this Saturday for the Celtic Cup at a match in the Cumann Mhícheál Breathnach GAA grounds in Connemara.

This is the fourth year for the Scottish team to be playing Cumann Mhícheál Breathnach for the Celtic Cup, An Corn Ceilteach, which they have yet to win on Irish soil.

The day’s events will begin at 11am with a shinty training session for the under 13 and under 14 Cumann Mhícheál Breathnach teams. The Cois Fharraig Camogie Club will put on a camogie display for the Scottish visitors at 2.15pm, and this will be followed then by a parade and the big match at 3.30pm

Later that evening GAA communications manager Alan Milton will present the winning team with the cup in Tigh Chualáin, followed by a night of music and fun.

From 2pm on Saturday, Seán Bán Breathnach and the RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta sports team on Spórt an tSathairn will be bringing listeners all the action live from the games, with interviews with visitors and players from Scotland, musicians, and with the local team and supporters as well.
