Corofin and Dunmore battle for ladies’ title

The highlight of Galway Ladies Football calendar takes place at the weekend.

On Saturday the senior county final between Corofin and Dunmore takes place in Monivea (1pm ), and it will be preceded by two deciders. At 11am the u-14 B Championship final between Tuam Cortoon and Caltra Cuans will be held, followed at 2.30pm by the u- 14 C Championship final between St Mary's and Ballinasloe.

In the Connacht championship Caltra Cuan's junior team play Strokestown in Mountbellew (4pm ), also on Saturday.

On Sunday the u-14 A Championship final takes place between Claregalway Lions and Kilkerrin Clonberne (5pm ) at a venue to be confirmed. The u-14 D Championship decider between Claregalway Tigers and St Fursey's is fixed for Belclare on Sunday (12 noon ).

Two other deciders are down for the decision - the u-12 D Championship final between Mountbellew and Naomh Anna Leitirmore in Oughterard (1pm ), while Grainne Mhaoil's will face Naomh Anna Leitirmore in the u-16 C final immediately afterwards.

In other ladies football action two clubs, Kilkerrin Clonberne and Claregalway, took part in the Kilmacud u-14 seven-a-side. Claregalway, who won the competition last year, were beaten in the quarter-final by Kilkerrin Clonberne who went on to take the title.

At adult level four clubs, Caltra Cuans, St Michael's, Glinsk and Menlough Skehana, took part in the Junior All Ireland 7s. Caltra Cuans won the cup and Glinsk won the shield.

At intermediate level Milltown won the shield after beating Grainne Mhaoil's by a point in the semi-final.
