Mervue continue league assault

Mervue United seek to consolidate their position in the top four of the Eircom League A Championship when they host a crunch tie on Sunday.

Visitors to Fahys Field at 1pm are Shamrock Rovers, a team currently sitting just below Mervue in the league table, and hopes are high Mervue can continue their asssault on the league table.

Despite a slow start to the championship, Mervue are enjoying a rich vein of form. Three wins in their last four games has seen them leapfrog up the table into third position - four points behind league leaders Finn Harps and Bohemians, and two points clear of Drogheda and Shamrock Rovers.

Manager John Glynn says: “We now have a realistic chance of making a play-off with the bottom team in the first division(currently Kildare ) to play in the first division next season.”
