Vintage fashion and décor fair goes west

The Vintage Fashion and Décor Fair is heading west for the first time, bringing with it another feast of vintage fashion and 20th century design and style.

With Galway firmly in love with vintage and now boasting more vintage fashion outlets than any city in the country, there was no contest when it came to deciding where to hold the first Vintage Fashion and Décor Fair outside Dublin.

The Vintage Fashion and Decor fair will feature more than 30 countrywide dealers in vintage fashion and 20th century décor, including several newcomers to the rapidly expanding vintage scene in Galway.

Interior designer and lifelong vintage lover Gladys Adams of Gladys Antiques of Tullamore has just opened a vintage boutique in Clarinbridge, Galway, while Enchanted Vintage of Sligo have also branched out with a new outlet on Francis Street in Galway, under the management of Jessica Inveninato. Recently featured on Nationwide, Enchanted Vintage boasts a huge selection of vintage day and evening wear, with a particular emphasis on the forties and fifties.

Between them, Gladys Antiques and Enchanted Vintage have a superb selection of vintage fashion from the twenties to the forties. On the décor side, designer and furniture restorer Tara Birmingham will present her revamped vintage furniture and collection of vintage fabrics. Birmingham works from a studio in Galway, where she works restoring and refurbishing vintage finds, often using her own original fabric designs to bring new life to old furniture. These and other Galway based specialists will be joined by vintage dealers from around Ireland to present a superb selection of fashion and decor from the forties to the eighties in the Galway Bay Hotel on September 12 from 12 noon to 7pm.

With both fashionistas and bargain hunters now firmly hooked on vintage, the Vintage Fashion and Décor Fair will be an opportunity to become completely immersed in the glamour of the 20th century.

Vintage themed attractions throughout the day will include vintage hair and make-up demonstrations and makeovers, vintage fashion shows, dancing to the sounds of the forties and fifties, and a best dressed competition.
