Be careful — Galway lifesavers are taking a rare night off

People of Galway are being advised to keep safe on October 3, because all the lifesavers are taking the night off!

A black and white themed ball is being held in the Westwood Hotel, where staff from Galway hospitals, Garda Siochana, the fire and ambulance service, RNLI, coast guard, civil defence, Order of Malta, mountain rescue, Red Cross, and Renmore barracks will get a chance to socialise formally - without the uniforms.

An amazing night has been planned starting with a drinks reception, followed by a four-course meal and a raffle with brilliant prizes. Ollie Turner will be MC for the night and entertainment will include performances by the Corrib String Quartet, Galway Capoeira Group, Diva Jeri Singer, The Wilful, and DJ Eamonn. A similar ball was held three years ago for ‘Share a Dream’ and was a very successful night. The proceeds from this year will be divided between Stepping Stone CDC and Abalta school for children with autism.

Tickets go on sale this week and the organisers are still trying to collect prizes for the raffle. To donate a prize, contact Shauna on 087 6428314.
