Witnesses sought following burglaries

Gardaí have appealed to the public for information following a number of burglaries in the city.

A premises on Churchyard Street was broken into the early hours of Monday when a man broke through a front window pane. The incident occurred between 3.35am and 3.55am. The man is described as 30 to 35 years of age, of strong build, with short dark hair. He was wearing a beige suede jacket with wool on the collar and waistband. This man may have sustained cuts to his hands while breaking into the premises.

There was a large group of people drinking around St Nicholas’ Church and Churchyard Street when the break in occurred, and gardaí believe this man may also have been drinking in the area.

A shop in Castlelawn Heights was broken into on Friday July 16 at around 1am. Two men entered the shop after breaking glass in the front door, and stole a quantity of cigarettes from the premises.

The raiders were both around six feet tall and of medium build. One of the men wore a white hoody, dark coloured tracksuit pants, and black runners. The second man wore a black coat with a white hood, dark tracksuit pants, and white runners. A business premises on the Headford Road was broken into at around 4am on the same day. The culprits gained entry by smashing the front door, and stole a till containing loose coins. Anyone with information is asked to contact Garda Maria Freeley at Galway Garda station, phone (091 ) 538000.
