Celtic songs @ Monroe’s

CELTIC FC fans refer to the team as The Bhoys and that nickname, with a little help from Celtic legend Billy McNeill, inspired the name of a Glasgow band who sing songs about the club.

Charlie and The Bhoyz, known as the ‘Number 1 Celtic Band in the World’, will play Monroe’s Live on Friday July 9

Billy McNeill, who captained Celtic during their famous 1967 European Cup triumph over Inter Milan, accidentally gave the band their name while placing an ad for a gig they were to do at his pub, McNeill’s Bar in south Glasgow.

At that time the band did not have a name and Billy thought Jimmy, the band leader, was called Charlie. They decided to keep the name in his honour.

Tickets are available from Monroe’s Tavern, Zhivago Records, and on the door. See also www.monroes.ie
