The new Renaissance unisex boutique salon on Merchants Road will offer customers a calm, relaxing, and alluring atmosphere, while their haircare and styling needs are catered for by experienced professionals with a fabulous reputation in the Galway city area.
At Renaissance the team specialise in cutting, shaping, and styling and they also have Matrix colour and styling treatments which have proved very popular with customers. Daithi Conneely who has worked as a hairdresser and stylist in Galway for the past eight years set up the business and Renaissance opened its doors five weeks ago.
The interior is alluring and sophisticated with a stylish modern interior design complimented by glistening chandeliers which adorn the rooftop. Conneely is delighted to be joined in his new venture by his former work colleague of six years Sinead O’Connor, who specialises in colour and styling. O’Connor is from Doolin in Co Clare. She trained with David Marshall in Dublin for two years, and she has been hairdressing in Galway for over eight years.
Conneely says he is very happy with the reaction to his new salon which is located next door to Louis Copeland, and just around the corner from the Eyre Square shopping centre. “We have a good clientele,” he says. “ Loyal clientele are returning to us and new clientele are coming in all the time.” O’Connor adds, “We have loyal customers travelling from as far as Sligo, Leitrim, Mayo and Roscommon and we have a number of very satisfied customers from the Aran Islands who are always calling in to us.”
Conneely who is a proud Spiddal native, is always ready to engage with customers as Gaeilge, and the other members of the team are friendly, chatty, and very welcoming. Thelma Ryder has joined Daithi and Sinead and she specialises in cutting, styling and upstyling. She regularly caters for large bridal parties and is thoroughly enjoying working at Renaissance. Ryder who is from Gort has worked in Galway for 10 years, and she previously spent seven years with Toni & Guy so she has a wealth of experience. She also holds a diploma in make-up artistry and Conneely says this is another area of the business which they are collaborating on and currently developing.
