City Hall to launch new website for city bus users

A dedicated bus web site, www.galwaycitybus.ie, will be launched in July and will contain information from all the service providers including routes, timetables, and maps.

The launch of the website was announced this week by Fianna Fáil councillor Michael J Crowe who is also the chair of the Galway City Council’s Transport Committee.

“The site will be a welcome addition to public transport in Galway,” he said. “It will build awareness of services and prices, and be helpful to local users and tourists.”

Cllr Crowe said the current information on buses in the public domain is “totally unsatisfactory” and that a recent survey on the current bus service in Galway gave feedback that was “largely negative”.

“As a result of this survey we will now have much clearer information on the web along with colour illustrated maps that will show exactly where the bus begins, goes to, stops etc,” he said.

Cllr Crowe said he hoped the website will be widely used by the public and that it will increase passenger numbers.

“Along with the website we will also be printing new maps and timetables,” he said, “which contain the relevant information for that bus provider which again will be much more user friendly than what we have presently.”
