Challenging issues in Crucified Ireland

CRUCIFIED IRELAND, a new Forum Theatre presentation will be staged by Galway community theatre ALâ in the Town Hall studio from May 19 to 22 at 8.30pm.

Members at the ALâ Ballybane workshops have taken a number of issues in contemporary Irish society and turned them into four plays. The plays will be rotated over the four nights at the Town Hall Theatre, with two being performed each evening.

Forum Theatre is an interactive form of theatre, developed by Augusto Boal in Brazil.

“It stimulates the audience to not stay passive as spectators but invites them to become part of the action as ‘spect-actors’,” says ALâ’s Janna Lindstrom. “It is an adventure during which the audience has the opportunity to change the outcome of the challenged characters.”

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777.
