Flower power a big hit at Ryan’s fashion show

Pretty, floral print dresses ushered in a hint of summer at Anthony Ryan’s spring fashion show recently.

A striking Kate Cooper tulip dress with a matching jacket offered easy elegance while a black and white dress teamed with a co-ordinating jacket showed one of the season’s most popular colour combinations.

Other high summer dress styles included a range of printed fuchsia, purple, coral and sand numbers for a casual, on trend look. Body skimming styles and simple cuts were the order of the day. Fun polka dots appeared in shift dresses while detailing, such as ruching, lace tiers and panels, were common touches.

Light linens, soft cottons and floaty chiffons provided options to suit every mood, occasion and budget while knits were the perfect cover up for chilly evenings.

The layered look is easy to achieve and is always a wise option whether for summer or autumn.

The show featured a versatile palette of perfect pink, ivory, silver, purple, cool white, lilac and lemon underpinned by the usual staples, black, red and navy. White worked well with the richest reds, perennial black or navy.

There were nautical influences too in everything from short macs to T-shirts worn with straight or wide leg trousers. Macs were big fashion news and came in cheery shades, an orange polka dot version was especially fetching.

White trousers continue to be a seasonal favourite, appearing in high maintenance linen, or the more manageable cotton. Teamed with casual knits, uncomplicated jackets or the season’s hottest T-shirts they exuded effortless chic.

The floral theme was evident in city shorts also which looked great when worn with the latest tops.

Denim lost none of its appeal for both men and women giving a casual edge to summer time dressing. Check shirts were popular for men while floral mini dresses and leggings were chosen by fun loving teens.

Slinky satins, one shouldered styles and rich florals were to be seen in Anthony Ryan’s Glamorous Party collection. Michel Ambers and Gina Baconni dresses dominated while three piece suits from Remus were a winner for men.
