Part three — the leather skirt

You may own a leather skirt that is relatively new or is a couple of years old; this week I would like to show you how to transform it to get more wear out of it. The following rules and examples can apply for other type of skirts such as the pencil skirt or the denim skirt.

In last week’s article I explained that the more simple the staple piece is, the more versatile it will be, therefore you will be able to create more looks for different occasions. You can either introduce vibrant colours or keep the look neutral, or add as many layers of clothes and accessories as you wish. If your skirt has patterns or busy details and more interesting colours, then team it with more simple clothes and accessories. For example, a black and white herringbone skirt will look great when teamed with a purple jacket, a pair of purple shoes, and a black patent bag.

In look number two I have teamed the leather brown skirt with a bright blue top and a blue bracelet, all from Principles. I have added wedges, brown shoes, and a brown jacket from Next. You could also wear it with a jumper or a simple white shirt. This look if great for an afternoon in town with your girlfriends.

You could also wear the same skirt with a patterned top, as I did on look number one, with the blouse from Zara, boots from Nozomi, and I have added a leather brown belt from Warehouse to accentuate the fitted waist. This look is great for work if you can wear smart casual work wear.
