Galway Africans to tell stories in Dublin

A group of Galway-based African storytellers, who go under the name Once Upon a Time Tellers, have been invited to play one of Ireland’s oldest storytelling clubs: the Dublin Yarnspinners.

The group consists of African tellers from Nigeria and Chad who have been living in Galway for the past few years. At the event they will tell traditional tales from their native countries.

Once Upon a Time Tellers formed after the success of the International Project in March, a traditional African storytelling event run by Galway storyteller Clare Muireann Murphy with refugees and asylum seekers.

The Tellers will headline alongside Clare Muireann Murphy on Thursday January 14 at the Dublin Yarnspinners, the Teachers Club, Parnell Square.
