Skeff Staff lifts spirits by ‘Walking on Water’

City centre residents may not have been hit by the floods, nonetheless The Skeff holds its rural patrons dearly, and is holding a fundraising event for those in the flood affected areas. Manager Andrew Phillips explains: “Many of our loyal customers are from towns and villages across Galway county. We really wanted to offer our support and let the people of Galway county know that their Skeff staff have not forgotten them.”

Tomorrow the fundraising event, ‘Walking On Water’, will see each member of staff buy his/her own pedometers with the aim of walking a quarter of a million steps over the course of the day in order to raise money for the flood victims.

As well as this the Skeff’s annual Christmas cheer unfolds between 4pm and 6pm with festive music, complimentary cookies, hot chocolate, and mulled wine. Saint Vincent de Paul collection points will be available throughout the bar.

Phillips says: “Fridays at the Skeff are the busiest in Galway, especially with Christmas parties and old friends meeting up, so a large amount is expected to be donated on the night.”

Monday December 21 will see the Skeff attempting to raise even more money for flood victims with a classic pub quiz from 7.30pm. Galway Bay FM and SNAP printing have also shown support for the creative event.

Walking on Water will take place over the entire day from 8am until close. For more information contact [email protected] or call into The Skeff on Eyre Square.
