Dutch trio to teach Galway about brass

Dutch brass trio De Jongen Driest will take up residency in Galway as part of the Galway Ensemble in Residence’s Autumn School Programme and treat the city to two concerts.

De Jongen Driest - Matt Darriau (sopranosax ), Arno Bakker (sousaphone ), and Joop van der Linden (trombone ) - will arrive on Tuesday October 27 and spend the next four days work-shopping with members of St Patrick’s Brass Band and rehearsing with ConTempo.

The culmination of this visit will be two concerts. The first will take place on Friday October 30 in the Augustinian Church and feature De Jongen Driest and St Patrick’s Brass Band showcasing work from the Autumn School.

The second concert will take place in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church and feature ConTempo with De Jongen Driest. This concert will take place following a pyrotechnics display as part of the city’s Halloween celebrations.

Tickets for both concerts will be available at the door or by contacting The Galway Ensemble in Residence on 091 - 586706.
