See the ‘sexy and postmodern’ MagneTs

THERE ARE six microphones, no instruments, only a fusion of glorious vocal harmonies and jaw dropping beatboxing on songs from Joy Division to Scissor Sisters.

This is The MagneTs, the English a cappella group, which plays the Town Hall Theatre on Monday October 19 at 8pm.

The MagneTs started out as street performers in Covent Garden before securing a record deal with EMI and to tour worldwide, including support tours with Tom Jones and Michael Ball, TV shows like Parkinson and GMTV, performances for heads of states and royalty, and numerous exclusive private engagements, including a performance in supermodel Elle Macpherson’s living room.

The group have also enjoyed critical acclaim, with The Scotsman calling their live shows “breathtaking, sexy and postmodern” while Die Welt called them “glorious a cappella”.

The Magnets recently played The Late Late Show so if you want a taste of what to expect go to www.rte.ie/player Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777.
