Children are being invited to submit artworks based on the theme ‘The best of Salthill’ for a competition taking place as part of this year’s Salthill Community Arts Festival. This year’s festival will take place from Friday September 18 to Sunday September 20.
The competition is open to children up to 12 years of age. All entries will be displayed at the Fáilte Salthill festival office during the festival. Entries should be no bigger than A3 size. Entrants should add their name, address, age, and contact number on the back of entries.
Entries to the art competition must be submitted no later than 5pm on Thursday September 17, and can be sent to Salthill Community Arts Festival, children’s art competition, c/o Salt & Pepper, 228 Salthill Upper. There are great prizes for winners, and entries will not be returned but can be collected after the event at the Atlantaquaria, Salthill.
The festival, which will launch its full programme of events this week, will cater for all ages and bring people to the heart of Salthill for a huge range of free events and activities. Children and family specific events include storytelling, face painting, kids’ rides, beach safari, sandcastle building competition, and obstacle circuit.
The Salthill Community Arts Festival will also showcase some of the best of Galway’s bands on the main stage, local performers in the busking competition, and local artists as part of the art trail and photo competition which is currently running in association with Davitt Photo Centre.
