Open call for submissions for TULCA Festival 2009

THE TULCA Festival of Visual Arts takes place in Galway from November 6 to 21 and submissions from artists are now being sought as part of the festival’s Open Call.

Artists whose work reflects an interest in examining the boundaries and overlaps in the public and private spheres - whether physical or conceptual - are invited to submit a proposal.

Proposals should be addressed to TULCA, Festival of Visual Arts, 30 St Joseph’s Avenue, Galway by Friday September 4 at 5pm. The proposal must include an up to date CV of no more than three pages and images/representations of previous work in PC compatible DVD or CD format.

When applying artists should consider the following: many of the festival’s venues will be unconventional arts venues. The venue for the Open Call installation will be an adapted venue, with mixed functions. Wall space will be limited and so performance, projection, sound or installation are the media for submissions.

The Open Call is not a commission and the selection will be from existing work. The artist will receive an exhibition payment and travel from within Ireland to Galway and accommodation for one night.

TULCA 2009 will be curated by Helen Carey and administered by Ceara Conway. Artwork will be exhibited in a number of venues in the city, accompanied by talks, performance and events.
