Performing only one gig in the west this year is Ray LaMontagne, one of the most distinctive voices in music at the moment.
With soulful singing and his award winning songwriting his songs capture audiences.
LaMontagne released his much-anticipated third album Gossip In The Grain last October to critical acclaim, and with hit songs like ‘You are the best thing’ it is easy to see why his slightly addictive ‘Trouble’ leaves you wanting more.
The show will start at 8pm with doors opening at 7pm, on Sunday August 6. The venue is only one hour from Galway, or there is the choice of two theatre hotels. The concert is a fully seated event with bars open throughout the venue.
Musically LaMontagne’s two previous albums were largely solo affairs, Gossip In The Grain sees him joined by members of his touring band with bassist Jennifer Condos, guitarist Eric Heywood, and Johns on drums.
As LaMontagne explains: "It was time to open up a little bit more, not be quite so reserved in my choice of songs that I wanted to record." Vanity Fair recently commented on the musician as "a fresh reminder that the genuine artist is not yet an extinct species," Gossip In The Grain reconfirms Ray LaMontagne as an artist and a craftsman without limits, a songwriter who is able to work his melodic gifts and distinctive lyricism through any of the myriad musical traditions that take his fancy.
