Where is the info on festivals McNelis asks council

The Galway city and county councils are “not doing enough to promote the festivals in the city” and should start by providing easy to find information on their websites.

This is the view of Labour councillor Niáll McNelis. He says that both www.galwaycity.ie (the city council website ) and www.galway.ie (the county council site ) do have links to the Galway Arts Festival site but that “you have to do a lot of looking to find them”.

The Labour man believes that information about and links to the Galway Arts Festival website should be more promenant and easier to locate on the local authority websites.

He also wants to see links and information included on the Galway Film Fleadh, the Galway Races, and the Galway Oyster Festival “especially at this time of year”.

He is calling on the councils to include banners and logos for the festiavls on their homepages.

“It’s not that hard to do this and the councils should get behind the festivals and support them,” Cllr McNelis told the Galway Advertiser. “The festivals bring money and tourists to the city and in this time of economic downturn, we must do everything we can to support such ventures.”
