Grunge, rock and metal fans will enjoy a blistering live show from the Hard Rock Collective at Monroe’s Live on Friday, April 7. From Led Zeppelin to Linkin Park, Nivana, Pearl Jam, Sound Temple Pilots, Slayer and Metallica, it will be a raucous night of loud, blazing anthems from the Newry based tribute band.

Born out of a passion for hard, heavy music, the group came together over seven years ago thanks to an idea sparked as part of best man duties. With Patrick Campbell on bass and vocals, Gary Short on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Paddy O’Hare on lead guitar and Tomás Gray on drums, the Hard Rock Collective formed initially to perform as a surprise for their close friend to celebrate his upcoming wedding.

Such was the enthusiastic response to their sound, they embarked on a new journey, bringing together their diverse range of influences. Since then, they’ve played at prestigious venues across the country, including the Belfast Empire Music Hall. Their high energy live show is a veritable rock rollercoaster and testament to their dedication to the spectrum of hard and heavy music.

“We run the whole gamut,” says Hard Rock Collective member, Patrick Campbell, “from Led Zeppelin to Slayer, we play music from bands that we love.

“We like to entertain, to give a good energetic and interactive show, and a night to remember. The audience can expect to see a brilliant band on stage. Everything has to be on point.

“We have an eclectic mix of influences. I am drawn to grunge and enjoy the likes of Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and Alice in Chains. Lead vocalist Gary is more about classic rock, from Guns n’ Roses to Led Zeppelin, he loves all of that. Guitarist Paddy is inspired by traditional metal from Dio to Slayer, while drummer Tomás focuses on entertaining the crowd with ‘90s rock classics such as the Beastie Boys ‘Fight for Your Right’.”

For Patrick, their upcoming gig at Monroe’s Live on Friday, April 7 will be a night of grunge, rock and metal classics with a positive and exciting vibe and a welcome chance to return to Galway.

“The energy at Monroe’s Live is always fantastic and it is the one place with such a diverse audience,” he explains.

“It stands out as a venue that attracts a great mix of familiar faces, students and visitors alike. We can’t wait to get down there and to have a great night of music and rock. It’s one of our favourite spots to gig at in Ireland.”
