With her highly anticipated album launch having sold out in advance in her native Cork, singer-songwriter Fiona Kennedy will showcase her latest work from ‘Find Me’ to a west of Ireland audience at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, March 25. Her new album features eleven tracks in a sincere exploration of the human condition and her life’s journey.

The IRMA award nominee has an ability to connect with her audience through her heartfelt lyrics and contemporary folk style. With powerful vocals and striking melodies, Fiona captivates listeners with her haunting and acoustic driven performances.

“My songs are from the heart,” she says. “I love connecting with people and I hope they can relate to my music. It’s my first time back in Galway after a long absence and I can’t wait to play in Monroe’s as it has a wonderful reputation as a live music venue. The intimate setting of the backstage is perfect, as it’s a striped back performance with guitarist Billy Kennedy.

“It’s set to be a night of great songs, banter, and I love to get the craic going. I believe my work will resonate with people of all ages. I write about not only my own feelings and experience, but about nature and the state of the planet.”

For over 35 years, she has carved out a prestigious musical career, thanks to her dedication and emotive prowess. Among her accolades is becoming the winner of Ireland’s first TV talent competition ‘Screen Test’ in the 1980s.

Since then, she has performed on the prestigious platform of the Late Late Show and supported international artists of such calibre as John Martyn, Carole King, and Kris Kristofferson. Her vocal range is such that she is described by Jack O’Rourke as having a “glorious voice” - a mix between the powerhouses of Emmylou Harris and Chrissie Hinds.

Not only that, but her track entitled ‘All Together Now’ received critical acclaim for her raw storytelling that is both autobiographical and honest, gaining sought after airplay on national radio. With ballads that reminisce of golden days with her father and bonds formed and lost throughout her lifetime, her discography sets the stage for her upcoming album.

Working with several top producers to develop her original material, including Christian Best, Cormac O’ Connor and Declan Sinnott, Fiona is embarking on the next step with confidence. It promises to be an evening filled with songs and stories, with a performance that is sure to evoke memories and create new ones.

Don’t miss your chance to experience one of Ireland’s top vocalists in the surrounds of Monroe’s Live on Dominick Street on Saturday, March 25 from 8pm. Tickets cost €12 and are available from www.monroes.ie
